Isaac left for another trip this morning so instead of taking down our Christmas tree, I've decided to sit and write about the second half of our trip to Italy.

We live on the fourth floor of our apartment, and the 4-5 trips it would take to put the tree in the basement just doesn't sound worth it at the moment (especially since today was leg day).

The tree provides some sort of comfort to me anyways.

I reread some of my other blog posts and realized writing these posts really help me remember the small details of our travels.

So, to pick up where I left off.

Train travel has quickly become my favorite. Our train ride from Venice to Rome was absolutely beautiful. It's so much easier and more relaxing than traveling by plane or car.

I'll insert a picture here of our view from the train.

Once we arrived in Rome we took the metro to our hotel. I was super excited about this hotel because I had reserved us a room with a hot tub. If you've ever traveled in Europe before, you know that it means a lot of walking. The thought of relaxing in the hot tub sounded awesome.

We settled in quickly as it was getting late. When I say late, it was probably 8pm, but like I said before we are old souls. We hadn't eaten anything since we left Venice so we were starving for some pizza. After looking up some places online we quickly found a highly rated take-away pizza place was in walking distance of our hotel. We got a ton of pizza, a couple of Fantas and headed back to relax in our room. This was probably the best pizza I've ever had, but maybe it was just because I was so starving.

The next morning we had booked a tour to see the Colosseum. This has been one of our favorite things to see. It makes everything else in Europe seem so young in comparison.

It was history coming to life in a whole new way. We kept talking about how we could have been walking where Paul walked.

God again provided us beautiful sunshine despite the weather forecast, and I just want to praise Him for that.

After our tour we were really ready for some pasta. This was again one of those moments where I kept saying, "This is unreal." I mean, can you believe this view?

I'm hungry just looking at that tortellini. That was our pasta of choice while in Italy, and if you can't guess by now the food there was our favorite.

Next we ventured over to the Trevi fountain which was absolutely packed with tourists.

You can see in the way back of this photo the mass of people that were here.

Neither of us enjoy large crowds of people, and God has blessed us with being able to travel in the off seasons.

This was when we decided we would get up extra early on our last day in Italy to take some pictures before our flight. But first, more gelato.

After another night of take-away pizza, relaxing in the hot tub, and a movie, we got up in time to get to the colosseum right after sunrise. God brought the sun out again, and Isaac snapped these beautiful photos. I love how the light cascades through the colosseum. Isaac again reminded me that he is becoming quite the photographer.
