the one with the trip to Prague

I was going through some of the videos on my phone of my husband and I's dog to show my parents last night and I came across videos of my trip to Prague.

I'm currently staying with my family in Colorado.

My husband and I had an opportunity to spend some time in the states. Isaac left Monday to head back to Europe, and I am heading out this weekend.
It's always great spending time with family and enjoying the American shopping (I really missed my Target).

Anyways, thinking back to Prague last night I wanted to write a post about it while it's still fresh in my mind. Since it's snowy and I need a day off from errand running, I thought today would be the perfect day to look back on that cold, January trip.
There was a sweet family in my church that I quickly bonded with. They have since moved from Germany, unfortunately for me. They had two sweet girls that reminded me of my sister so we had some sleepovers and decided a girls trip with their mom was in order. With Isaac out of town for work, we took a perfect 2 day trip to the Czech Republic.
We left on a Friday afternoon after the girls were out of school. It's about a 4 hour drive from my house, so there was plenty of time for chatting and singing to music.
We got to Prague around 5:30pm and quickly found the hostel we were staying in. We booked our own private room for a great deal and had our own bathroom as well. The mother and I dropped the girls off to let them get ready for the opera we had booked for that night. We left to find the parking garage. It took us quite a while to navigate (using a map since neither of us had cell phone service) our way to the parking garage. Despite the language barrier, the man working was able to find our reservation. We had less than an hour to get back to the hostel, change, and get to the opera. Luckily we had an easier time finding our way back.
Sometimes the things that don't go according to plan on a trip become the most memorable.
We had to dash to the opera - literally. We were running through the cobblestone streets, giggling the whole way. But we made it!

We had reserved a private balcony so we thought that was so fun, and took a ton of pictures.

I had never been to an opera, but with my musical background I was definitely nerding out.
The opera lasted about three hours and it wasn't until it was over that we realized we hadn't eaten dinner. So we ventured out to
find a snack and watch the historic astronomical clock in the main square, before heading back to the hostel for the night.

It felt more like a nap because we had to get up early to make it to our tour of the city. We got up, ate breakfast at hostel, and bundled up because it was starting to snow. It was so incredibly cold, but I that quickly faded in to the back of my mind as I got caught up in the beauty, history, and emotion in the city of Prague.

After our tour we did some exploring on our own, souvenir shopping, ate a few chimney cakes (they taste better than they look), and grabbed some authentic Czech food for dinner. God even answered our prayers and allowed the sun to come out.

I'm going to be sad to leave my family and friends this weekend, however I always look forward to being reunited with my husband - he is forever my happiest hello. I also look forward to getting the house decorated for the holidays, starting some new house projects, and seeing the pups.
