So I've finally decided to get serious about this blogging thing.
It's Monday night and the husband (Isaac) and I just cleaned up from dinner. So now it's time for Netflix, coffee, and cuddling.
It's the first day back to work for both of us after a 3 week vacation/staycation & I gotta tell ya - I was dreading it.
We've had an amazing 3 weeks being able to reconnect as a couple. Since moving here to Germany last summer, my husband's work schedule has been pretty busy. It was so nice to have that time to not have to worry about anything (except for eating too many carbs). When booking this vacation we knew we wanted something "beachy." We originally thought something off the coast of Italy, but everything was pretty booked up or the Airbnb reviews weren't so great. So, I literally just typed into google "best European beaches."
That is how we stumbled upon our 2nd honeymoon destination: Zakynthos Island in the Greek isles.
May I just say, I left part of my heart there. I fell in love with the culture, people, language, music, food, and beauty of the island the first day.
Our flight out of Germany left at 5:50am on a Wednesday so we had quite the early morning. We got to the airport around fifteen minutes past 4 and the lines to check in were insanely long. I kept telling myself (and Isaac kept telling me) - "we'll be okay. The lines are moving quick enough. We still have an hour till boarding." Inside though I was praying like crazy and trying my best not to be anxious. Needless to say, we made it to our gate with 20 minutes to spare (enough time for me to snap a stereotypical passport photo).

After the two-hour flight we landed on the small island of Zakynthos. Walking through the tiny airport we were looking for our names to spot our driver. We finally spotted an elderly Greek man holding a paper that had "Welcome Mr. & Mrs. Fearnside" written on it. He tossed our luggage in the trunk with an "Opa!" and we were on our way.
When we got to the hotel it was like something out of a movie. The woman who ran the hotel walked down the stone steps of the most beautiful pink hotel I've ever seen and said (very dramatically) "Welcome to Zakynthos."
The Balcony Hotel in Zakynthos is situated on a cliffside overlooking the beach of Tsilivi. The view from the hotel was absolutely phenomenal.

We waited until our room was ready before changing & heading down to the beach (which was about a 5 minute walk). There were some stone steps leading down the cliffside straight to the water. From there we'd walk through the water to the beach. We picked the first beach restaurant along the shore and rented an umbrella for the day (at these beach restaurants you pay 6 euro to have an umbrella and 2 chairs for the day). This is where we ordered our first slush puppy. This was it. This was all we wanted to do all week. Drink fruity drinks, soak up the sun, and swim in the ocean.

I think the only work we did all day was blow up our donut floaties & apply sunscreen.
